Morrigan Celtic Goddess Wall Plaque by Paul Borda Celtic & Mythological Art

Morrigan, translated as "Phantom Queen," is an awesome Battle Goddess. Here she is depicted in one of her stories thru the eyes of Cuchulain, who is roused from sleep hearing a great cry and leaps up to defend the cattle. He finds a stunningly beautiful woman all dressed in red with flames on her brow. The woman's horse has only one leg and the post of her chariot goes straight thru the horse's body. The horse is being lead by a man with a forked staff. Cuchulain demands the man's name and Morrigan refuses to tell him, but engages him in a war of riddles. Cuchulain in a fit of frustration rushes upon the woman in the chariot to kill her and she vanishes transforming into a crow cawing into the night. He is dumbfounded to realize he has just attacked the Goddess of War.

Morrigan can be called on for passing over rituals, to assist with prevailing in conflict, finding the true self or courage in the face of fear, as a potent force for banishing and in dark moon rites.

Measures 5 1/4 x 4 x 7/8 inches. Lovely sculpture by artist Paul Borda is cast in resin and is available in a wood finish.

Paul Borda Celtic & Mythological Art

Artist Paul Borda creates all his Celtic, Norse and Wiccan designs carved in wood - an old world carving technique becoming a lost craft in our modern world.

Each design is hand carved by Paul, then carefully molded to preserve every last detail of his design - right down to wood grain you can see in some pieces. They are then cast in museum-grade resin which holds all that detail and hand painted in finishes like wood and stone.

Many of Paul's designs have also been turned into stunning jewelry - rings, pendants , earrings and more for art you can wear every day.

Origin Made in China
Materials
Cast Resin Resin is a polymer which can be used for making molds as well as cast in molds. Cold-cast resin is generally for sculpture and means that the resin material is cast without the need for the extreme heat of a foundry. It holds very sharp detail when cast. Most of the major lines of figurines on the market today are made of cold cast resin. It is fragile if dropped and fractures similar to glass, usually in clean pieces which can be glued using a household super glue.
Hand Painted Detail Color details are hand painted. Please expect slight variations - each is unique.
