Cernunnos, The Horned God 18 Inch Statue by Maxine Miller Celtic Art

Cernunnos is the Gaulish version of the Pan-Celtic “Horned God. ” In Welsh mythology he is the Consort of the Great Goddess and god of the Underworld, nature, virility, fertility, animals, sex, reincarnation and shamanism.

This striking statue of Cernunnos depicts the Horned God Holding a Horned Serpent, Torc of Power and Fox Animal Companion. His animal dynamism swirls around his head, creating a nebula of energy. Designed by artist Maxine Miller, he stands 9 inches tall - a beautiful piece for your altar or home. Available in wood, stone or bronze finish resin.

Also known as Herne the Hunter. Modern Druidry, which derives from Celtic culture, honors Cernunnos in his ancient Celto-European form as the guardian of the forests, the defender of the animal tuatha (tribes), the source of the deep forest wisdom, and the masculine half of creative energy. His restorative work in the cycle of the year is particularly celebrated at Beltaine, and is often paired with one or another of the female deities in her maiden aspect.

Druids may call upon him in reference to vital, non-violent masculine divinity. The horned-god concept is featured prominently in pagan religion. Such deities are linked to nature religion themes as well as to Chthonic or Underworld natures. The power of the stag transfers a warrior nature to the stag-horned god, and as such is a powerful primal image to convey with our unique statue. The Horned God is known to many cultures by many names including: Cernunnos, Herne, Pashupati, Pan, Puck, Pachacamac, Lord of the Winter, Hu Gadarn, and Belatucadros and many others.

Cold bronze infused cast resin statue measures 18 inches high making an impressive altar statue.

Maxine Miller Celtic Art

Maxine Miller Celtic Art

Maxine Miller has devoted many years of her artistic life to honoring and illuminating the Celtic and Pagan traditions for people of today.  Her work is rich with exquisite detail and symbolism.

Inspiration springs from the works of Erté, Beardsley and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.  Victorian and Art Deco influence is combined with ancient Celtic/Pagan legend.  The results are Maxine’s own unique amalgam of story and art.  While she works primarily in pen/ink & watercolor,  Maxine also creates sterling silver jewelry, clothing, sculptured wall plaques and detailed statuary.

Born in Los Angeles, Maxine Miller resided post high school in the dingy decadence of punk rock Hollywood, where she found beauty in the crumbling old structures and the underground club scene.  Nowadays, Maxine is a happy resident of Portland, Oregon where she finds inspiration in the abundant natural beauty of its landscape as well as the creative atmosphere of its people.

Materials
Bronze Infused Resin Bronze Powder is mixed with museum grade resin (a polymer) that holds every fine detail of the mold for the appearance of solid bronze metal at a fraction of the cost and weight. Can shatter similar to glass if dropped. Fractures can be mended using super glue or similar adhesives.
Cast Resin Resin is a polymer which can be used for making molds as well as cast in molds. Cold-cast resin is generally for sculpture and means that the resin material is cast without the need for the extreme heat of a foundry. It holds very sharp detail when cast. Most of the major lines of figurines on the market today are made of cold cast resin. It is fragile if dropped and fractures similar to glass, usually in clean pieces which can be glued using a household super glue.
